Growing up in the former "Steel Town" of Consett in the 60's,
Jim aquired his first guitar " A Beatles plastic Woolies job", he then progressed to a ukelele before settling on his brothers acoustic guitar.
After a staple diet of Beatles and Rolling Stones, Jim was also influenced by his older brothers interest in Folk music.
All of that was to change when he heard his first Black Sabbath record
As a teenager Jim was heavily influenced by Queen and Thin Lizzy.
Jim "borrows" his brothers black Ibanez Les Paul copy indefinately, and is on the road to stardom.
Forms his first band "Wet Dream" (1978)
Gets his "Dream Guitar" Gibson Les Paul Gold Top because of his hero Gary Moore.
Forms band "Hardline" in Newcastle,(1981) records first Demo and gigs extensively in N.E.
Forms power trio "Hellfire"(1982) with Les Fry and Evo from Warfare. Recording and gigging in North East and received Record Company interest.
Records with "Hellfire"Mk!!, and gains reputation as session guitarist.
Moves to London approached to join Metal band "Tank".
Records solo project(1984)
Joins melodic rock band "Geneva"(1985) records and gigs attracting major label interest

Summer 86 joins Venom as a replacement for Mantas
Venom record "Calm Before The Storm" featuring old "Hellfire" track "Muscle"
Venom tour Brazil, as a four piece.
Venom start work on follow up album.
Venom tour Japan.
Record Company and Management problems cause split within the band. Jim, Conrad and Mike relocate to East coast to form "Cronos" with drummer Chris Patterson.
"Cronos" debuts at "The Ritz" in New York, as special guests to "Manowar"!
Cronos embark on tour playing Rhode Island, N.Y.C, Boston,Connectticut and Washington.
